About LEAP
Purpose
The purpose of the LEAP Collaborative is to establish an inclusive global collaborative to create a cleft-focused learning health system. The LEAP Collaborative aims to tackle the limitations currently facing cleft care, including variations in care outcomes across sites and providers, lack of robust data to facilitate clinical translational research, and limited integration of patient and caregiver voices in care.
Outcomes Platform
LEAP aims to create actionable, data-driven insights that empower cleft team leaders, healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers. By comparing population-level outcomes among peers, the system will foster rapid change and improvement in care, ultimately improving the health and well-being of children born with cleft. LEAP data system dashboards will utilize data visualization to anonymously compare participating center performance, enabling open and supportive peer-to-peer discussion and learning.
Focus Areas
Our initial focus is on improving outcomes during the first 10 years of life. The LEAP Collaborative will focus on three critical areas:
Nutrition and growth
Psychosocial risk identification
Cleft surgery outcomes
